Charity put down dog who gave them £100,00.

Bloat in dogs is not the same as being bloated.

In humans being bloated is likened to feeling full/uncomfortable etc.

Bloat in dogs is an often fatal and very painful condition, particularly common in deep chested breeds like retreivers, labs etc.

'IF' the dog had bloat then I doubt there was any alternative to PTS

Err no I think the story said it played with a police officer.
OP you need to change the title of this thread .

Oops, sorry. I actually read about this on fb and could have sworn it said Rspca Officer, but can't find it now so will stand corrected.
Thistle, yes that is what I meant , if it had bloat pts would have been the kindest thing.

Chances are the dog got bloat because it was fed inappropriately by the "rescuer" and over ate as retrievers are likely to do anyway. Piling food into an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster and add that to the playing...

Pity it was 5 days before the lady was found. Perhaps her daughter should have kept in contact more regularly ,or a neighbour could have knocked on the door sooner.

Wood green probably thought no one would on an 8 yr old arthritic dog. It is n't easy to home an older animal. You would have hoped some one in her family could have given the dog a home.

Perhaps this is a lesson to us all, we should all keep an eye on our older neighbours and keep in contact with older relatives.

Perhaps the elderly relative not being found for so long is just as shocking, as a charity putting down an unwell, elderly dog with very little chance of rehoming.

How many of you who post " it's so shocking" and " it's awful" and " how could they" threads on here actually get off your backsides and do something for the animal charities you are all so keen to have a go at behind your anonymous computer screens.
