Charlotte Dujardin's new love interest...

He's a beautiful horse but he intermittently drags his NH foot.
Thanks for posting I enjoyed that.

Ah I'm not going crazy! :) I thought that at one point but then thought I must be imagining it as he was quickly back to floating loveliness.
He is a gorgeous boy though :)

If you follow a link posted in the comments section there's a video of the eventual winner - Fiontini - AMAZING.

He's is gorgeous but for the money he will cost that and his lack of straightness in left canter which could moving the inside hind leg in to avoid using it would worry me .
Many things could be causing that but I would want to tease out what before parting with my pennies .

The modern dressage horse at these levels seem to have very extravagant action at the front but not matched behind. I'm no expert but that does tend to make them look short behind at times. Given his age and stage of training, I'm assuming this could well be lack of strength/suppleness and not pushing through from behind, as opposed to lameness as such. Could that be causing it?

I think he's absolutely lovely. What really impressed me is his attitude, this is a five year old stallion with a completely new rider performing in quite a big atmosphere, he was showing such trainability, responsiveness and relaxation. Lovely!! So many of the winners of these young horses classes don't go to the top, sometimes their extravagant movement doesn't stand the test of time and they break or they find it difficult to get the degree of collection for the more advanced work or frankly, they always retain tension in the more difficult movements. I'm no expert but I think this is one to watch and when he's stronger I doubt you'll see anything you won't like.

He is still young and there is work to be done. Still one to watch :)

I noticed as well - however Charlotte did comment he wasn't as strong behind so it may be something outside of lameness and more to do with the training he has. I also thought his collected canter looked a bit odd at times, however I'm not sure if that's just me.

I think he's a lovely horse, definitely one to look out for in the future, but having watched Charlotte and Fiontini I found myself even more impressed!

I agree...except she hasn't got 'the tail factor', :P :D

In all seriousness WOW...I think it would be incredible to see Charlotte competing Fiontini a few years down the line.

Really enjoying watching those videos- thanks for bringing this to my attention! Charlotte is such a lovely sympathetic rider. The grey stallion is simply stunning, Fiontini perhaps has a better hindleg- I would be happy to take eihter home"

Just wonderful! :) Very exciting for the future.

I agree- Fiontini stole the limelight.

I think Fifty Fifty does deserve a bonus point for appearing so calm and level headed for a young stallion though.

I'd also like to say how well Charlotte did too. We ask so much of our talented riders, it's not enough just to ride well but they have to be ambassadors for the sport, win medals but not appear overly confident or arrogant, keep their owners and the selectors happy and cope with disappointment without complaining and keep coming up with the goods as they are only as good as their last good horse. Charlotte is a really talented rider and I really hope she keeps getting the rides she deserves.

Charlotte does amazingly well, I do have a lot of admiration for her as it is really not easy to do as well as she does in the limelight! She did click very well with the horses she rode then and loved her sense of humour!
