Charlotte's Test

Wasn't it stunning!

And following on from the 'contact' thread, it was interesting to compare Charlotte D and Helen L. Damon Hill often has his mouth open despite the light contact, and to me it looked as though her contact wasn't as smooth but there was some mild bouncing of the bit against his mouth at times. What did other, more experienced, posters think? Not to take anything away from them as I love Damon Hill and would have been almost as happy for him and Helen to take gold!

When you put the brakes on in your car, do you feel more secure with the constant pressure under your foot or would you feel more secure if that pressure was on and off? I know my answer.

I wish the forum had a like button for this post ;)

have just watched charlottes test on utube and it was brilliant to be able to listen to the music and not mike tuckers wittering....I have just sent my thoughts to the bbc as his commentary spoilt so much of the competition yesterday...I can cope with judy as she knows what she is talking about(mostly) but he drives me mad...and now im having to listen to him on the cross country!!!!!!!!if anyone else agrees can you please contact the bbc so they get the message...

But contact is a two way thing surely and the complete "throughness" that they have is just breathtaking and I think it's this that enables Charlotte to have that wonderful elastic contact that we saw in the test. For me what sets Charlotte and Valegro apart from the rest is the quality of the upward and downward transitions which was demonstrated so clearly in the early part of the test moving from passage to piaffe and back again. There are horses out there with bigger walks, flashier trots, a bit more suspension etc but none of the horses make it all look as easy as Valegro does. They are an absolute joy to watch!
