I posted a few weeks ago about the newish ignorant neighbours buying a stallion, which they had no idea how to handle. Well tonight they let it out about 6:30, for the first time I've seen it it didn't appear to be sedated. It jumped into our other neighbours field and ran her 19 year old gelding ragged round the field, it has cut and bruised three of the geldings legs and as he already has navicular I dread to think how lame he is going to be tomorrow. On a selfish note I am so pleased that our girls were in the field away from him, as I am sure he would have killed our old lady. I just hope that they realise that they cannot handle it and sell it on. Sorry for the length of the post, but am furious with them

The geldings owner and I went in to help to keep them apart, the bloke with the stallion was running round after him and the woman was supposed to be closing the gate between the geldings two fields to sepperate them, but she is so frightened of the stallion the twice she didn't shut the gate in his face and twice blocked the gelding from going through!

I have a sad mental image of people dressed variously in casual sports wear and burberry chasing a stallion around a field - sorry, it's late and I'm tired.

Somebody needs to go and demand their insurance details tomorrow - maybe there will be no need for a claim but it might frighten them into doing something

Your image of the Chavvy neighbours is pretty close! Unbelievable family, we have had endless trouble with them stealing stone from drystone walls and goodness knows what else. I have to say if it had got in with our mares all hell would have broken loose, the two elderly ladies would have been in a mess and the younger two would have caused ructions, particularly the 17.2 shirexclydesdale. They have said that they will keep it in, but no animal should live in 24/7

i agree with the watcher... go and ask for insurance details just incase. do they not realise that someone or something will get hurt and poss worse? stallions are not easy to have ive had one but luckily he was the type that didnt know he still had genitals! but would never get another. i hope the poor thing wont be put in 24/7 thats a lonely life

Why on earth are they keeping a stallion?

I hope the gelding recovers, poor boy.

With the type of people they are, the Stallion ownership is the equivalent for them of owning at Rotweiler or Alsation - studded collar etc! - A status thing!

I used to know a family a bit like that. They went out and bought a 17.2hh very thin ex race horse. They were VERY proud that they owned a Race Horse! In their naivity they bought it an indoor weatherbeeta rug and turned it out!

I told the man what he'd done but he still wouldn't have it because he said the rug says "weatherbeeta" and that's what it's for! Deep Breath!

The gelding has spent the day hiding round the corner of his stble, obviously still stressed and traumatised by last nights fiasco. The neighbours from hell have no clue what they are doing, apparently the woman has said earlier on that she would like to ride out with the gelding and a mare that meets up with it, on a Sunday morning! The other worry is that their land is borderd on two side by roads which are generally quiet, therefore ridden on quite a lot.
