Brandy pup (8 weeks) has discovered chicken poo. The whole time shes out in the garden she hoovers it up, if allowed. Tonight she threw up a load of it. Yuck!
How to put her off? She won't be distrated by a toy and doesn't lead very well yet and can't go outside the garden. The chickens are mine and they are staying!
Water pistol or something?

Bess used to eat the chook poop. She's progressed to just rolling in it these days, along with the badger, goose and fox pooh. She really is such a charming young lady!

No idea how to put her off. We just kept distracting Bess and eventually she gave up. I assumed she was just experimenting/exploring with new tastes.

The most weird thing she will still eat is silage. Silly pup!

I shall just hope she soon grows out of it then! At least when shes had her second jabs she can move on to horse poo - must be more hygienic!

Oh yes, I neglected to add horse pooh to Bess' list! It's a particular favourite of hers, especially delectable and deposited in convenient lumps for her to run off with.

She will also steal eggs from the basket if you have her with you when collecting them! I'm just thankful she didn't move on to the chickens themselves.

I can see me currying the path! Trouble is the tame chooks sit in the back porch all day. I might try currying some of their poo...good idea. Shes a lab though so will probably just eat the curry!
She ignores the chickens completely, which is great. My lurcher goes in to the nest boxes to steal the eggs. My OH says 'You can take the dog out of the pikey camp, but you can't take the pikey camp out of the dog'.
Sorry if that politically incorrect statement has upset anyone.
