Looking for a cheap and cheerful bridle for my OH big hairy cob (so has to be chunky). I like heritage bridles but are there any other ones that are good value?

Try having a look on ebay? I bought a lovely leather bridle for £15 and it arrived the next day! I guess its often a case of luck on ebay too though.

I like the Collegiate bridles for decent quality and not too expensive. Leather is nice and the brown ones are a lovely colour.

I'd go for a second hand good leather bridle as cheap leather can be dangerous if whilst having a good leg stretch the reins or cheek pieces break could end up in trouble - from experience!!

i have a jhl bridle its a nice hunter type bridle and when oiled goes really nice and soft,i really rate it,its used everyday and has been fore a long time and is still good as new think they about 20 quid-ish!

Just ensure that it is made from English Leather. You get what you pay for. The really cheap and cheerful Bridles are dangerous, so why risk a nasty accident for the sake of money. Heritage are a reliable brand but have a look at Rhinegold. Good quality and not overly expensive. Try ebay.

I was agreeing with you MrWoof - until you suggested Rhinegold. These bridles really are very poor quality.

Ditto the Kincade bridle. I have the Weymouth one - cost £35 and comes with two sets of decent thick reins!
They're not english leather but they're decent quality and well made. Mines used daily and still looks fine with little wear.

Have they changed the quality maybe? I have a rhinegold bridle bought a good couple of years ago and the leather's lovely - so good in fact I'm pretty certain it's english leather (or german). Their saddles are truely awful, the the bridle I have is brilliant (it's actually one of my show bridles)

I have two made by Rhinegold. I always thought they were German. Have hunted in them for years with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps the quality HAS changed - if so, profound apologies for recommending them.
