"cheap as possible please"

It happens in lots of areas I guess. In my line of work people are paying for an artist with years of experience, skill and expertise in their trade, to mark the individual for life. Yet some shop around to find the cheapest regardless of quality, argue over prices from professional establishments whilst all the while wearing a pair of trainers costing 4 times as much!

There's nothing wrong with looking for a bargain, however there are some things in life you shouldn't scrimp on!

The ones who want the cheapest everything rugs, tack, ponies etc yet when you look on their FB page they are pictured in clubs and pubs out drinking and wearing designer gear - priorities!!!! Then don't even get me started on those who think others should subsidise their expensive hobby, moan, moan, moan when a bag of feed goes up by 20p yet they have a brand new car sitting outside....

I have my mare up for part loan for free with no jobs - just riding. I had someone get cross with me over the christmas period as I wouldn't move yards so it would be more accessible to them. I have my horses at home...

I see a post on Facebook earlier, someone wanting a cheap horse trailer for their loan horse. Max of £200

After a few replies they then said they don't mind a project. Even for that price they'd struggle to get a project trailer I'd think, I'd been shopping for a project box for a while and found none that cheap!

How much do they think it will cost them to fix up to a road worthy standard let alone be suitable to have a horse in if? A darned sight more I would expect lol

I had something on Preloved that was £10 (or thereabouts - can't recall) but stipulated that it was cash on collection because the cost of posting was more than the item was worth. Someone offered me £8 including P&P and said they were on a budget. So, basically, their budget meant I was going to sell at a loss. My budget meant I said no thank you - I need enough money to pay fair and reasonable prices to my farrier, etc! And I don't begrudge any of it.

I had something very similar! Was selling one of those cheap Lidl rugs for about £5, it was I think £10 new and had only been tried on the pony. Had someone ask me if I would accept £2 and post it, to which I said no, it said clearly collection only and that I was not prepared to drop from £5, to which their reply was they were on a tight budget and if they paid a fiver it would have to include postage. Give me strength!

I'm looking for a saddle at the moment for my youngster as currently I have 2 horses to 1 saddle! I'm looking for a relatively cheap saddle as they will change shape but I definitely have bounderies. I'd rather have an old but good make than 1 of these 60 quid leather things you see on ebay! They scare the hell out of me! The thought of people putting those on a horses back :/ give me an old jerfferies or gfs anyday least they are well made!

Annoys me too, if I had anything I thought was really cheap, I'd donate it to a charity before selling it to these out And out scroungers.

I have to agree with Andalucian & with what afew people have said on here horses are expensive & whilst it's nice to get things cheaper than normal there seems to be more & more people wanting things for nothing or next to nothing. But it doesn't apply to horses l've seen lots of adverts from people wanting other pets particularly in the parrot world wanting a macaw parrot for nothing or under £300 with all their accessories & they are worth £1,200+ without a cage. If you can't afford to buy an animal in the first place you aren't going to afford it's upkeep.

People just have an odd sense of reality I think. On our local Facebook pages, there is a poster who regularly reposts the same WANTED ad for a 3.5t horsebox in good working order must be under £2500.

A person recently responded with a link to her advert selling an coachbuilt horsebox for £3000 ono. The person who responded is locally fairly well known, is an instructor, is seen (with that horsebox) out at shows and clinics, etc - the vehicle was clearly old but 12 months MOT and also came with contact details for mechanic and professional horsebox person who'd done the new floor etc. The response from the original poster? "I was looking for something needing less cosmetic work + out of budget but thanks! Oh my ..... When people get what they want from those adverts I feel quite jealous though as I could never be so cheeky!

Most of the South Island of NZ is currently going through it's second year of drought, so hay and feed prices have gone up accordingly. There is a FB page for buying and selling hay (summer here, so it's very active at the moment). So many people have been bit*hing about the increased prices being advertised, that the Admin has just posted that any such comments about hay prices will be deleted.

The number of people asking for "cheap" hay is laughable, it costs what it costs and given that supply is tight, demand will be high.

I've mixed feelings about this thread as I usually ask for a discount, regardless. Finally thought I'd made it when I got a bill from the vet for zero for two castrations. Sadly it was a mistake and the next one was for £500. I sent a cheque for the first, too, for absolutely nothing -- of course! Vets just have no sense of humour.....

One of my wife's friends is like Steptoe. Every time she is here she is trying so schwag anything for free - ballast matting, pallets, some skirting boards we removed. She claims she has some use for it but I know it would be on Preloved the next day.
