I'm planning to go to Badminton this year with some friends, we've never been before and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a cheap B&B near by? We would just be staying over Saturday night, coming down from Manchester. I'm really excited!!

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at Bristol North, nice cheap clean rooms to a good standard and not too far away, I think it took about 30 minutes to get there and parked up as we are early morning people. The Bath HIE isn't much further, but not sure about the traffice from that direction.

After having booked into a local hotel and turning up to find the room damp and mouldy and a hole in the ceiling, we immediately checked out and stayed at the Travelodge at Leigh Delamere (M4) about 5 miles from Badminton, not too noisy, room was perfectly adequate and was very reasonably priced!

The answer is you wont find it within 10 miles, and if it is, its already booked up. I would look in North Bristol for somewhere, as its not too far away from Badminton. Try areas like Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Old Sodbury (very close), Thornbury, Almondsbury etc, or even the Aztec West region of Bristol, which is on the M5 junction.

Like you, I cant wait to go and am lucky enough to live 30 minutes drive away - roll on Badminton.

I just managed to book a lovely little cottage for my OH and I (and the dog) for two nights at £60 per night.. Yes it doesn't include breakfast (although there is a pub opposite where they have an agreement with for full english breakfast) , but it's got a kitchen etc so I can bring my own food. It's about a 30 min drive to badminton.

Maybe check the holiday cottage lettings? You may find something cheaper than a B&B, especially if there are a few of you....

Friend and I are going to a Travelodge too - stayed there before, comfortable room and no worries about turning up late or leaving early morning!

Thank you everyone!! Looks like a cheap hotel 15 miles or so away is the best suggestion, as there are only 3 of us definitely going. Fingers crossed I can get something booked this weekend :)

SpruceRI and I booked the Leigh Delamere Travelodge on the M4 way back before Christmas. It cost less than £100 between us for 4 nights. Not the classiest of places to stay I grant you but we're up early and at Badders for brekkie, then stay there right through to have dinner before coming back to the hotel, having a shower and collapsing in bed ready to do the whole thing again the next day! :)
