I've been told the pony i ride needs so be kept stimulated in his stable and out in the field. It preferably needs to be non food based as just looking at food makes him fat, any suggestions??
Cheers

Never tried it but ive been told that putting a log in their stable, they chew it and kick it etc,
you said no food but apples and carrots in their water?
Salt/mineral lick.
football in a haynet.
Football on the floor, but deflate it slightly so they cant pop it.

All mine are food related :o

Turnip on string, carrots in haynet, food ball etc
I don't know what they are called but you can buy apple scented balls to play with in the stable.

An exercise ball for in the field but I'd be worried about leaving it unsupervised.
Mirror

I swear there was a gym ball in a feild we drove past the other day.

They should invent some kind of Angry birds for horses.

Think of his stable as a playroom: Willow, Silver Birch and Ash branches are safe to chew on.
A tyre, with tit bits in the rim. A bucket with a brush, or salt lick inside.
A broom head screwed to the wall - good to rub against.
A mirror - he can 'talk' to his best friend.
A bit of tarpaulin on the ground to step on/avoid/paw at.
A knotted rope to chew on - smear some honey into it or carrot juice to encourage chewing.
But don't do it all at once, give him something and then swap it for something else.
Have fun.

Wow never thought of half of that :D

With the milk bottle idea you can put stones in them so they make a noise. Ive used the squash bottles with the handles round the neck as they are more durable than milk bottles.
