Hi,

I've browsed this forum before but decided to sign up to ask if anyone knows where I can find a decent quality cheap cavesson bridle?

I need one in black and full size, preferably with reins. I'd rather have a well looked after secondhand one than a bad quality new bridle.

I have a budget of around £35 including postage but could pay a bit more if I need to.

Thank you :)

I make bridles and £35 wouldn't even cover the cost of the materials for me. Go second hand; you'll much better value. Steer away from name brands you will always pay a premium and you won't get better quality; in fact you'll often get worse.

Thank you, I'm hoping to buy a new saddle in havana soon, so I don't really want to spend a lot on a bridle that will be used for a few weeks. Can you recommend any brands?

I have the shires bridle that wagtail has. It has put up with a fair amount of abuse from my 5yr old (it was his first ever bridle!), I rarely ever clean it and it scrubs up fine for shows. The leather is lovely and soft as wagtail has said. I highly recommend it :)

I also have a requisite performance fancy stitch bridle that I got in their Christmas sale for £25 but it probably is still on the website. Again this bridle is great. I actually prefer it to my kieffer and devocoux (the leather is horrible imo). Also stay clear of John Whitaker-rubbish quality, the leather was really poor and it looked disgusting in under a months time even with cleaning it every day!

Great thank you, I'll have a look on eBay and take a look at that shires bridle.

I would cope with the mismatch but I have a black dressage saddle so I might as well buy a black bridle just in case my horse suddenly sprouts into a dressage diva!
