Cheap eBay clippers

Might be OK - but clippers advertised that are OK for dogs as well as horses would worry me a little.....I expect that they will get very hot, and will possibky need oiling every five mins instead of every 10 for most clippers, and clipping might take twice as long as normal - and if it takes twice as long, the horse might get a bit stroppy too?
I think, that possibly buy a decent brand Lister - and they will go on for years and do the job properly......

might be worth a gamble, even if you only manage a couple of clips with them then decide they're not right you'd probably be able to put them back on ebay second hand and get a reasonable price that would mean you'd lost no more than it would have cost you to have paid somebody to clip them for you anyway:)

I've hauled my clippers out tonight as I can't put off clipping the wolly bear any longer - all those that have said OMG he's got a lot of TB in him aren't so sure now his winter wollies are through - my money is on some connie blood in there somewhere:D

Must be around 7yrs since they were last used as I lost the old girl in 2010 and she was retired a good few years before that, plugged them in to check this evening and they ran a treat. They're Liveryman arenas and there's a few of those going second hand on ebay at the moment too, I recommend ;)

I am kicking myself as I have some Oster clippers I got for the dogs which I used to clip out my TB with using a wide horse blade and since I haven't clipped a dog or TB for 10 years I cannot find them. Will have a good look for them this weekend. I just know if I shellout for decent new set I will find these ones immediately!

Masterclip are good, mine have done 5 clips last year and 1 so far this year and touch wood had no problems , don't over heat but I do take my time and stop, reoil and allow to cool.

I have the hunter clippers and medium blades, I think they are based on heiniger blades.

I would worry about the electrics on mega cheap ones, if electrocuting myself and the horse.

God I hadn't thought about electrocution  I always use a breaker for doing the sheep tho as electrocution is a real danger with any clippers I think.

Thanks for the link :)

Surely everyone uses a curcuit breaker to prevent that happening anyway, or am i just very over cautious as i always use one.
The cheap clippers i would be worried about the blades and being able to buy new ones but it does say you can buy them from their ebay shop so might be worth a try at that money.
I can recomment Liveryman clippers, had mine for years and they are great. They will be getting used soon to do my hairy cob so i can work her a bit before the weather gets really bad and she has a break, again.
