what do you use to store your feed, that would fit a bag of safe & sound? dont want anything massive as only need to store one bag of feed. thanks :)

i use a cheap plastic dustbin with lid - but - proper job has some fab bins that look like proper feed bins but are plastic and cheap as chips. My dustbin fits one bag chaff almost exactly (thump it on ground to compress chaff to fit more in)

Try and get an old chest freezer free - maybe request on on freegle/freecycle or freeads. They are vermin proof and insulated!

Edited to add you can get ones which are only the size of a kitchen unit, which would be ideal

Oh - that's a good idea

I splashed out on metal feed bins....and have found mice squeezing in through the sides

so it's back to the plastic dustbins.

I got hold of an old ice cream freezer from a shop that closed down. The sliding lids are great for access, and I can fit 2 sacks of Hi-fi bags, plus 3 sacks of 'other' i.e. bags of oats/nuts etc etc. Oh and it was free!

I use black bins with lids too. I got mine from Poundstretcher, they were £10 each. I can fit a full bag of chaff in after compressing it all down!

Yeah I use the bins from Ikea too. Yes they too small to hold a bag of chaff but you can stack them to get your chaff in couple bins and it takes up less room to the big black bins from b&q. Before I changed horse diet due to illness I had chaff in a couple and mix in 1 and they stacked up. When it was in black bins I needed 3 and it took up too much space.
