Has anyone bought a cheap fly rug that has turned out to be good? My spotty boy has a nice uv reflective one (not for flies, but to protect his pink bits) and my yellow horse has been bitten today and come up in a few big lumps, so he's pinched the spotties rug. Yellow horse obviously needs his own, but haven't got much spare cash at the moment so it need to be a cheapy - under £30. Looked for second hand and not much about. Has anyone had a gallop on from eBay or the £25 derby house ones or any others that are cheap and it has turned out to be ok?

I have an Amigo Mio that I picked up from my local tack shop for £30 two years ago, I will use it again this summer. I get a new one next year (maybe a better spec) as it's got a fair few pulls now, even though my mare is very kind to her rugs. It's done well for the price.

ive got the gallop one its good ,my horse is not a rug trasher but its already into its second summer and im pleased. its quite sturdy for a cheapy:)

I've bought cheap fly rugs in the past but really you get what you pay for & when they're cheap I've found them poorly made, terrible fit & they snag & rip easily.

Last year I bought a couple of Mark Todd & they are great. They fit well, have a large belly cover & there's an extension piece at the withers so when the horse is grazing the neck stays down at his ears keeping flys out. If you shop around the net you can save quite a bit on rrp.

I have a gallop one and im very impressed with it, does the job well and hasnt moved round a lot like countless others iv tried . :D

Another vote for Gallop... although I have now cut the neck off as it was slipping down and rubbing my boy's mane. But still think it is very good value and is on its second year. I think I paid about £20. A friend has a waterproof version which she swears by.

The gallop ones come as standard combo rugs or for a little more can get one with a belly flap - what ones do you have?

l thoroughly recommend:

Although it is slightly out of your budget if you shop around you may find it cheaper on another website. I have used this rug on 2 rug trashers and it still works and there are no rips or tears.

I also have a masta zing fly rug that I bought for £17 from go outdoors. This is also a very good rug.

I picked up a lovely one that does everything I want for £17.50 with the postage off eBay already washed. I just put it through the machine first as it's second hand. It's a swish rug I think? When I was looking though Amazon had a mark Todd for £20... And I only got mine Friday!
