Can anyone point me in the direction of some CHEAP, lockable storage trunks/boxes/tubs? Something I can add a padlock to. I'm fed up with things going missing, and my storage cupboard has been gradually taken over by other people. Grrr.

I've taken to carrying my grooming kit, headcollars, etc around in the car, but now even things like wormers, supplements and feed are disappearing and it's getting silly and expensive. It's got to the point where I'm keeping feed at home in the garage, and just taking small amounts to the yard each day but it's getting OTT now I'm using various supplements too. I can't fill my boot with bottles and containers - it's only a Fiat 500!

I'm just praying that we can convince a local farmer to rent us some grazing when we move house next month :)

Halfords or equivilent, cheaper than tack boxes and tend to come with holes to slot padlocks into. Another good find in there are bike locks that are thin retractable cables with a combination lock. Can wrap them through and around all sorts of stuff to secure it and no keys required.
Also hombase or B&Q do the bigger graden storage plastic containers.

Depends on what you call cheap? I've got a Keter box, the sort you can store garden lounger cushions in. They're easy to put together, big enough to store rugs, bags of feed etc and have lockable lids. Bought mine from B&Q for about £50.

If i was getting stuff nicked all the time id be well peed off, is the yo not bothered theyre yards got some tarry fingered gits around ?
I would have the culprits off the place in a heartbeat if i found them, and id make sure that it was common knowledge thats what would be happening to them when theyre caught . Thieving does my box in , people work bloody hard to keep theyre horses in good condition with nice stuff, some folk have no respect .......cheeky gits.

Sorry rant over

Oops soz about the spelling was having a rant :p

I don't know the size of box you need, but a dead chest freezer may be the size you need & a hasp & padlock can be fitted easily. That should be big enough to store feed & suppliments in. :)

Someone told me a story about a person knicking feed - they put a rat gin trap in the feed - those things really hurt and you lose your nail - no it wasn't me (I keep my lot on my own no problems with other people, well not that sort anyway) I have set them for the rats and got my thumb in one by accident - oouch!
At least they knew who the culprit was - shouldn't think they did it again!!!
If you want to be a little more gentle but deliver a shock I should think a carefully placed mouse trap or two may do the trick!! But remember that you put them there!!
(Reminds me of why I don't 'do' livery yards any more). Hope you get to move instead - the stress levels are not worth it and spoil your enjoyment of your horse. Good luck.

I have a trunk like this, I found it in a junk shop but there are a few on ebay.
