I'm looking for an old pony or yearling for a companion for my riding horse. Best place to look. Must be cheap and no health issues, I don't mind buying a colt or putting in handling work with a youngster but if old it must be good to handle, no wild 25 year olds please. I have a super 29 year old on loan at present,no lami or sarcoids or anything like that, he's a good un but is soon to be returned to his owner after their house move.

I've looked but there's nothing local enough, the RSPCA only have one on their website and it's too far away 😞 anyway, the others blue X etc don't have anything suitable sadly, too big mostly.i might pop down to breacon sales on Saturday.

I've decided for the time being to not rush,my horse is placid and in his own paddock and doesn't appear to be bothered by being alone,so I'll take a bit of time before I buy a companion, there's other horse owners in the village who keep a single horse on their own land so maybe we could pal up and share, I'm going to think about this, I've looked at several charities but unfortunately the ones that I am interested in size wise are feral or have some problems that I don't want. Might just take a chance and go to the sales sometime, I'll see how horse takes to being alone,as I said there are a few single kept horses around and they seem fine.

My mum's friend has a horse whose been alone since he was 3, his behaviour is unfortunately very reasonable under those circumstances 🙄 but i doubt you'll be keeping em alone for years ahead

I'm sure if you put a post on your local horsey group someone will come forward
