Cheap public liability insurance for dogs?

I'd like to do a few local runs with Millie lurcher or George terrierist with a new company that has set up, but they are asking for public liability insurance for the dog! None of my 5 are insured (far too expensive with that many of them!) so I was wondering if it was like horses and I could get public liability insurance by joining an organisation, or cheap somehow? Has anyone any ideas please?

Another vote for dogs trust.Similar scheme to BHS membership insurance.

Thanks but I don't have any! I rent so no buildings insurance and absolutely nothing of value to cover through contents insurance

Non visiting membership of PAT dogs comes with public liability insurance I think it’s only £15 per year

When I insured the house with NFU, in the days when their premiums were do-able without re-mortgaging!! - I seem to recall that they covered "working dogs" under the policy.......... ??

Don't know if they do a dog-specific insurance?? Might be worth asking??

Yes, I joined purely for the 3rd party liability insurance.

I'd just cancelled the dogs insurance as being big dogs it was a silly amount of money a month, so now that's in savings but I was worried about 3rd party liability.

Just watch the wording as you have said that the Terrorist can't be trusted with other dogs, and many insurance policies would therefore exclude him as having a known problem with aggression.

That is why I joined the Dogs Trust as Pet Plan would not include Public Liability insurance in Rosie's cover. She is no longer likely to attack anybody but her history means I would have to prove that first to get her covered.

I have liability only insurance through Bought By Many, very cheap - under £25 for 2 dogs.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Ironically when I asked the race organisers what level of cover was required they went away and decided it wasn’t needed at all 🙄 Typical! Not sure George is motivated to run at the moment....
