I am after 2 rugs, one for my youngster who is likely to have outgrown it by end of winter. He'll be rugless except in heavy rain when he'll wear this. And another for my tb. She has a premier equine buster trio, but the 100g rug is a beast and much thicker than the 100g weatherbeeta I used to have. Just want something to keep her back warm overnight now it's a bit chilly as she has spinal arthritis. I don't want to spend too much on either. Trying to find them is a nightmare as you search for lightweight turnout and just get rain sheets! I quite liked the weatherbeeta I had, but can't remember what it was called!

I've just bought the shire tempest 100 for my youngster. It's not the greatest rug in the world tbh, buckles feel a bit cheap etc but it wasn't expensive and it's the only one I could find in 100g!

Im not sure who does it but someone makes a 50g and a 70g other than PE if you Google that weight it should come up its how i found one.
BUT even ie the 100g you have feels much thicker it won't be any warmer than that. Otherwise as a cheaper option chuck a fleece on under rain sheet.

Do you not find the fit of shires rugs seriously dodgy? They seem to fit horses who's neck come vertically out of their backs! Certainly don't fit mine

Try Swish. They are available on eBay.

I have a 100g one and it's ok, fits differently built horses, but is a budget rug really, not like Premier Equine.

for cheap 100g look at ruggles, swish or shires.

the weatherbeeta is by far the best but they only do them in a combo here, i ordered a standard neck off amazon from the states but it cost me:o

I have a requisite one from robinsons was about £30 in sale 100grm about to do its second winter still looks pretty new despite being the only rug I used last winter x

I really like my shires 100grm BUT it has no sheepskin bit at the wither & so rubbed my horses mane off. Am going to stick some sheepskin on, but feel that lack of this little thing really lets the rug down as other than this it is ace :(

I would go for the Swish - 75g is £59.99 and the 50g £45.99 which I think is a good price,

I have their 1200d rain sheet and im impressed with it - yes they are not as nice as premier equine - but at half the price they certainly are not half the quality

I swear I am always on the hunt for 100g rugs! I find several cheaper brand rugs like this but I'm a bit concerned that they wouldn't fit well. I really desperately want a Weatherbeeta medium/lite but can only find the combos these days and don't want a neck! Ahhh!
