I need a pad to lift my saddle slightly. The saddle fits and has been checked by the saddler, but as it is close contact she suggested a prolite to lift it slightly. I don't need one of the risers, just the basic pad. Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative as they are £49 new. I am watching a couple on ebay so that's a maybe
The are so many pads out there, just wondering if anyone has tried any
Thanks

I'd definitely keep looking on ebay - try checking different spellings of "Prolite" I managed to get a front riser pad for about £18 a couple of years ago as someone had spelt it "prolight" in the title (it was a genuine prolite and barely used!)

prolite are the best.

BUT I got one off ebay for about £20. When I was looking quite a few come up so it shouldnt be long before you get one.

They wash up well and last for ever

GFS do a prolite equivelant at half the price. but sorry i would have to argue with your saddler if it fits it wont need a pad! to lift it slightly .......

There have been lots on ebay recently, I bought one for about £20 too! Personally I'd rather use a prolite than a cheaper alternative (get what you pay for and all that...) but as they're so good and durable I reckon second hand is a good way to go.

Although surely if a horse has lost muscle on their back for some reason, then the saddle might not fit so well and so for the short term a practical solution would be to pop a prolite or similar underneath until the muscle has been built up again?
