Just wondering if theres a cheaper version? Jasper currently has a bucket muzzle but despite me covering it in fur it rubs, not helped by him rummaging in the hedge untill he gets it off. Once he has got it off i cant catch the little oike to put it back on again :(

Someone suggested i try a greenguard but not keen on forking out £65 for the muzzle and headcollar and finding it hanging in the hedge!!

I'm just trying to get hold of a Dinky Rugs muzzle - sadly, they're out of stock until early July, but from those I've seen these are the best, softest, most accepted muzzles around. We have about 6 on the yard with them on, and they all seem to accept them with minimal nose-sores...

They're between £19 - £21 depending on size.

Dinky muzzles are V good but i found that my boy eventually ate right through the bottom of his, have also heard of a few other who have done the same so if you are getting one keep an eye out for this as it might need replaced more reguarly than others:)

Do you know if anyones used one with sucess on a pony who hates the "normal" bucket muzzle. He really hates it but i've got too much grass and he just runs straight through electric fence when he runs out so strip graizing doesn't work :(

have been looking at 2nd hand but even then their £35+ :( i wouldnt mind if i was sure it'd work but pennies are tight and OH will have a fit if i fork out loads and he distroys it

I bought one as my boy hated the other sort and I love it, it hasn't rubbed and apart from a few days sulking at the start he copes really well with it, looking better than ever :)

Well worth the money :)

Yes. Horses who hate the normal bucket muzzles seem to accept this one without a fight.

Put it this way: my 17 year old boy, who (to my knowledge) has never had one on before, just looked a bit pee'd off, then mooched off to graze what he could. I did try one of the old plastic muzzles on my last horse, and he hated it!

We have a pony who stood for a week with a bucket muzzle on during 3-4hrs turnout refusing to eat and ended up destroying it. 10 mins with a greenguard muzzle he got the hang of it and has happily worn it 24/7 since. Well worth the money. I've had one for another horse for years and she regularly trashed the bucket type before I gave in and bought the greenguard.

I found the greenguard rubbed a little on the chin but easily fixed with a bit of sheepskin attached.
Mine has never managed to get it off though he has broken a headcollar which obviously got the whole thing off.

Looking at where you are based, I think there's a few for sale on the Hertfordshire Horse Riders facebook group.

I ordered 1 of these, liked it so much ordered a 2nd one, however after only a week of use, only 6-8 hours grazing a day, my mare had started to eat through the bottom of it, plus a seam had lifted up and rubbed her chin raw. This isn't a hardy pony either, she's a 16hh ISH!

I emailed the company and I just got a rather uninterested email back saying as they were so soft it was normal to have to replace them during a season. That's as maybe, but not after 1 week!

Was completely unimpressed with their customer service and attitude.
