Hi - thought this might be helpful to the many members of this forum who I am sure will have pets on long term medication for arthritis etc or other chronic medical conditions. You may or not be aware that you can simply ask your vet for a prescription for whatever medication your pet is on and then order it directly from the undernoted company thus saving in some cases vast amounts of money. Your vet cannot refuse to give you the prescription and also cannot charge for giving you one. Your pet stays under their care and nothing changes apart from the fact you save yourself money -

I've compared prices with various other on line companies and this one seems to be the best currently by far. I hope this is helpful

When my cat was seriously ill and on regular medication I asked my vet for a prescription as it cost both arms and two legs and he said he would rather not gve me a prescription in case we got the wrong medication supplied but he marked our file and whenever I got repeat drugs for her I printed the current website price and thats what I paid him.

Not quite true! the government are not allowed to suppress the Vets income in such a way as it is a private business and not NHS. The change in law granted chemists etc to sell drugs to animal owners with a Vets perscription however, a Vet can refuse on grounds of safety. There is another change about to be granted in the next couple of months that a Vet can charge whatever they wish for a prescription as again it is a private business and not NHS.

Remember that vets have to make money or they won't survive. Also remember that they carry a lot more variety of drugs and sell less than these websites, so will probably be paying their suppliers more than the website prices.

Also, if you pay less for drugs, you often end up paying more for procedures, as somehow or other, the practice has to make money...

Oh, thought this post was going to be about human prescriptions then - my asthma drugs are FAR too expensive!!!
