I'm currently trying to work out if it will be cheaper to pay for a prescription from the vets and then buy the bute elsewhere. I've done a quick google search but the places I'm finding are all going to work out the same price as buying it direct from the vets.

So does anyone know if a box of 100 is sold anywhere for less then £60?

I using a lot of danilon but looking on line. (i use hyperdrug quite alot) It worked out the same or dearer to get a prescription from the vet and buy on line.

Easier and cheaper to get direct from my vet!

Not for me ! my vet was charging 75+ for a box of danilon, now get a prescription for £10 which is for 3 boxes, cheapest I found for it was medic animal £44 so works out MUCH cheaper for me.

Cheapest I've found bute for is £60, my horse won't eat bute

It's mad, the difference. THere are 3 vetinary practices in the town, 2 general and one equine "Specialist". the specialist and one of the practices charge €1.50 and €.20 respectively per sachet, where as the other vet charges 60cent per sachet. i have enquired as to how they all reach a price. needless to say, the two expensive ones say they are selling it at cost, whereas the cheaper one says that he sells bute for very little more than he buys it for. i wonder who you'd believe. He thinks that, the fact that you call them out every time they are needed, selling the bute at a reasonable rate is a thank you for your custom. really like that practice!!
