Hi, Not had much success at getting someone to try a horse out for me that is located at Equine-Agents at Five Ashes, in East Sussex. Anybody game out there? He is a grey gelding 16+hh and is advertised on their website. I live all the way down in Cornwall so need someone to try for me so I dont have a wasted journey. He looks quite green from the movie but someone who has ridden him for me will give me a better idea if he is worth the trek. Thank you.

Like was said before Katie, a person you dont know doesnt know your capabilities or riding experience, you need to try the horse yourself.

are you really prepared to part with a lot of cash on a strangers say so, what about when you want to vet the horse and pick it up?

I think she means that she would like someone to make sure he has 4 legs and is as described in the ad before she comes all the way over to try him herself. However, as said before, unless you know someone's riding ability and expectations, you could be sorely disappointed!

I understand where you are coming from with this... Perhaps once you find someone who will go ask them a bit more about their riding etc, and could the possibly take a video camera with them and send you the link to the videos taken while there. Then you will have a better idea before you go all the way to see the horse.

I personally wouldnt like the responsibilty of checking out a horse for someone, espec if they made a very long journey and then didnt agree with what I had said.

Could you not fly down Katie?

My last horse was 300 miles away, I flew down with BMI, only cost me £80 return inc tax!

I know what you mean about getting someone to check them out for you. I like the look of Ryan on their site but I'm too far away to just go down. Will have to wait til half-term.

I hope you find someone as it's a good idea. we sometimes try horses for people from that area, but they are mostly in Cornwall or Devon.
All I do is get my daughter to ride them, say what she finds and then I go over them for lumps bumps etc. I takea video and some stills for conformation purposes.
The last horse was then viewed by the enquirer, vetted by my vet and brought to us to back and bring on.
I am always honest about my gut feelings towards the horses and if I don't like them I tell the buyer!
Of course you need to see the horse yourself but you aren't asking that are you, what you need is someone local to go and ride it in the same way we do..
There is bound to be someone knowledgeable around that area, why not put your post on Competition forum?
