Hi, my horse has just been diagnosed with a tear to the check ligament and a very small amount of damage to ddft. He's going for2 weeks at the local spa (alright for some 🙄!), with another 2 weeks box rest before rescanning (whilst building up to 2 x15 mins walking in hand by the end of week 4). Will be ordering an arc Equine for him this week, any recommendations for supplements that may also help. Was considering the science supplements flexibility or suppleaze gold. Any advice welcome.

Rhus tox is a good remedy for the homeopathic route. Down the herbal route Comfrey contains something that reduces inflammation and is good for tendon and ligament strain. Also I would ice the area as much as you can or borrow some ice vibe boots as these will be as good as a spa in terms of treatment in the short term!

after doing my 3rd lot of soft tissue rehab.... I have concluded that time, good general nutrition, patience and controlled exercise are the best remedies ;) I'd save your money.

I think I'm still at the 'throw the kitchen sink at it' stage, we're doing all other things. It thinking I may as well over all bases! Not competing atm so clearly feel I can waste my hard earned cash on supplements !

This, I'm always desperate to try and help as much as I can to fix them, no expense spared but I've learnt that actually a good balancer and the correct rehab plan are the best thing for mine and in the case of your horse I don't believe much extra will help the tendons/ligaments other than the dietary essentials used for growth and repair

I remember that feeling with the first one ;) Save your pennies, check ligaments generally make a good recovery anyway. You might be glad of the cash you've saved when your horse is back in work and you can afford to have some fun again.

that would be a nice feeling! I scanned mine quite a bit as the first one she did was a real mess, big traumatic injury and she was in her late teens so it took quite a while to heal. That works out quite expensive ;)
If they had to injure anything, the check ligament is about the least worst. Hope you're back on board soon and that your horse enjoys the spa!

MSM was the only thing my vet advised for a ligaments, I've just bought some from Aviform as this MSM recommendation came after I asked him about joint supplements... answer to which was that they were waste of money and the MSM was the only ingredient he'd recommend.

I am just using the straight MSM. I have used the Suppleaze Gold before but didn't notice much difference on my girl.
