check ligaments operation advice needed

Hi, I have just found out that my horse will have to have a check ligament operation, he damaged it last October and has been on box rest and walk in hand, but he has now gone lame and the scans show that the ligament has not got any better. The vet has suggested an operation to cut the ligament. Has anyone had this treatment if so what was the recovery time and long term outcome any info would be of help please

Seem to have heard of this being done before and being successful. Im not much help as have no experience of this but if you try googling it you will probably find quite a bit of info.

One of ours has this operation done about 15 years ago and never had a problem since the operation. Considering techniques etc now are more advanced, can't see any problem with your horse having it nowadays.

It was so long ago that we can't remember how long recovery time was but the mare went on to have a successful showing career.
