I wonder how many times this happens and no one notices.
Bear in mind this is Scotland and you only need one win at 65%+ to qualify with qualification passing down the line is the winner has already qualified.
So I did a novice qualifiers in July (at venue B) and got over 65% and came second behind a girl who I had seen win a qualifier at another venue (venue A). So I assumed that I would have been given the qualification as she had already qualified. However, venue A is notorious for being slow in sending the results to BD so the results from venue B arrived at BD first and were loaded onto the website. Because of this the person who beat me at venue B was given the qualification.
When the results from the venue A eventually arrived at BD the computer saw that this girl was flagged as having already qualified and as the second placed person at venue A scored less than 65%, no-one qas given qualification.
Thankfully I am a nosey person and like to check on all the local results so I emailed BD yesterday and asked them to check on who had qualified where and they have now gone back and manually changed the qualifications.
However this has got me thinking (never a good thing). How many people miss out on qualification because of this sort of cock-up which TBH isn't BD's fault but maybe they should have some mechanism for checking for such things. Maybe there should also be some penalty for venues which are slow at getting results to BD. This particular venue didn't send in their results until 5 weeks after the competition (I know the secretary and she told me she completely forgot to do it!).
