No not a safety post.
Went out on a hack, left the yard and had a ichy head :( was trying to stop it by trying to move hat, didn't work so... i stopped and took it off to find a spider drop out!!
Now i hate spiders, i fell off a push bike once as i saw a spider on it so this could have turned into a safety post :o
I will from now on be checking for what could be in my hat before i put it on.

And also check your boots - I pulled mine on once and there was a mouse in one. And it was alive! Even after I had pulled the boot of and thrown it across the yard.... eek!

:o I know how you feel!!
I once did this with my boots.... put them on, walked a way and thought 'there's something in my boot'. Stopped, took off boot, tipped it up, nothing. Stuck my hand in and pulled out something round.... and squishy. One squished spider. I shook violently for about 10 mins before I managed to put my boot back on :o

Daughter put her boot on the other day and there was a toad in there! She wondered why she couldn't get her toes in and pushed a bit before deciding to take the boot off and investigate. She caught the toad and took it to the pond.

ugh!

when i was in africa we were advised to turn our boots upside down & hit them a few times before putting them on in case there was a scorpion in there!

I can do worse than that , many years ago my daughter lent her hat to a poor girl up the yard where we kept our horses, she had no hat and she had offered to ride one of my daughters ponies, she was a good rider. Good job I checked inside of it before passing back to my daughter as there were two huge headlice in it on the hatband!!!!!!! Yeuk

Glad my horse is good as the spider landed on the saddle and i was shaking my leg and brushing the saddle to make sure it had gone.
I will be checking boots from now on aswell!
I usually scream and run from spiders :o

Aaaaaaaah. That's made me squirm just reading it.

[Says the girl who was seen fleeing the kitchen earlier just from a 'look' someone else in the room was giving the wall behind me. Needless to say, my thoughts were right, there WAS a spider on the wall behind me which they didn't want to tell me about lol.]

I know that 'look', i remember once my mum did the 'look' and there was a spider hanging from the celing above my head, surprisingly (sp) i managed to jump sideways off the sofa with my dinner, missing the spider and didn't spill a thing, couldn't do it again if i tried lol

Not a horsey incident but my husband came home one day and felt something light drop on his head at the doorway - thought is was a leaf and brushed at it.

It was a spider's egg sac - he broke it and out came hundreds of tiny baby spiders, all caught up in his hair!

I think he showered for hours and for days he was peering at his head. :p

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!! :o

I did this before with my gloves I wear on my ped, set off on a 10minute journey and thought there was something in it, told myself to get it at the other end, took my glove off and a huge beetle dropped out

Oh God, that has made me feel a bit ill!

Uugghhh...... I'm going to have nightmares tonight!

Not horsey at all, but I remember walking out of the school dining hall with 2 friends once, me on one side of this girl, my other friend on her other side. As we were walking, I suddenly started doing a goldfish impression and pointing at her neck. We all stopped and other friend was like 'wtf are you doing OMG ITS A SPIDER!!' At which point this girl freaked.... :o There was a HUGE spider sat on her collar/neck! No idea where it came from either! Just very, very glad it wasn't on me.......

:eek::eek::eek:
aaarrg a spider, a toad, a mouse an scorpions what next!!! i would have spooked the horse from screaming !!
where do you guys keep your hats and boots???
once on brownie camp in switzerlad one girl left her walking boots outside the tent and in the morning they were full of slugs!!

i religously(sp) run my hand around my hat before it goes on my head! i have put my wellies on before and a mouse had made a nest in the bottom of it with the mouse still living in it. i currently have mice living in my shed that i keep my stuff in down the yard despite it having a recent clear out so will be having another clear out soon, they have made themselves at home in there.

I think I would just stop living if that happened to me! Worst nightmare!

I always check my hat and boots, and spend ages knocking my boots of the wall and waiting for anything to crawl out before I'll put them on. :o

LOL!! Yes I had a frog in my boot at a show...

Got told off for screaming and spooking the horses. Whoops :o

I always keep my hat in hag bag so the nasties can't get in!

Not at all horsey, but when I was about 9/10 I fell asleep on a bean bag in my sisters garden. Woke up a while later to discover I had fallen asleep next to an ants nest, they were red ones too - all in my hair they were, stinging me all the time, sister got my head over bath asap and showered me till they were gone.
My head was sore and itchy for days.

Oh no!! I'm gonna check my hat all over for about half an hour tomorrow morning now thanks to all these posts! - the worst we get in is mice poo and plenty of it :o
they all get in our box somehow and seem to do their mess in my hat!!!!!!

Not really horsey but I was at the stables!! I went to put my tack box away and started to pull down the shutter when something dropped onto my head. I tipped my head down and this big.....fat.......slimy slug dropped down but stayed stuck in my hair! I screamed and shuck my head trying to get the thing off but the more I panicked the more stuck it got!! I screamed to my daughter to PLEASE help me!!! She sort of giggled......... very helpful!! There was no way I could touch it, if I'd had some scissors I would have cut it out but grabbed this towel and had to drag it out! My hair was so full of slime that it felt like it was still there!! Eurgh...
