How come their spouses get a travelling expense? Surely if their going along, they'll travel together?
Also how come "centrally purchased stationary" cost so much to post? (over twice as much as the actual stationary)

How has my MP spent 2K on "MP's spouse's travel"???!!

Yes, I can claim expenses when I stay away for a night and can claim back travel expenses but I couldn't claim for my partner's travel!!! As far as I am concerned, my taxes shouldn't be paying for his wife's travel expenses!!!

Almost wish I hadn't opened this post now as I am even more fuming about it than before.

FTR, my MP claimed £148,000 in 07/08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't earn that much in a year, let alone claim it in expenses

Apologies for the use of excess punctuation in this reply, it made me so mad that my finger got stuck on the exclamation mark key... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£153,000. More than doubled since 2002.

Nearly £10,000 "communications allowance"?! What the duck is that?

ETA

Bloody heck! My local MP has claimed more than Gordon Brown or David Cameron! How does that figure?

Well mine is very good value one of the lowest expeses claims of all MPs and well above average contibutions to all debates, speeches and everything else. He is also a very good constituancy MP as well. Well done to my MP!! He doesn't own a 2nd home but proudly states he stays in travel lodges or other budget accomadation.

My MP has claimed nearly 162k.

He has claimed over 8000 for travel for himself, 400 for staff travel and 131 for his wife's travel.

I don't think his look too bad, tbh, although some are a little higher than I'd expect. However, he is a Lib Dem.
