Unfortunately horse got caught saddle caught in a gate yesterday. It got a bit twisted before he got free.
Is there a way of checking the tree? I'm worried something may of broke.

As a child, I was taught that if you hold the pommel in one hand and the cantle in the other, and there's any movement, the tree is damaged, but that was years ago with wooden trees. Get it checked by a saddle fitter. Hope you're both ok, horrible thing to happen.

Similar to above: place the cantle so it is against your tummy and hold the pommel in both hands and press towards you and slightly upwards. If there is movement or a "click" or tiny rattle you may have a broken tree. Please note a spring tree saddle will have more bend! Any doubts at all take to your saddler.

They can get twisted but not break as such. Have a good look to see how symmetrical it is. It might be worth getting a saddler to check.
