I need a new pare of cheek pieces as the ones on my bridle are to long to deal with her gag xc. I've been borrowing a grotty pair that are the wrong colour and who knows how old but I don't know what the buy to replace? Her bridle is shires cob sized in havanna but I'm not sure whether to buy the pony size as shires I've found comes up big in everything and she has to go up a hole from her snaffle despite the borrowed ones being considerably shorter. Does anyone have any nice true to size short cheek pieces they can recommend? It's really hard to tell online what different companies version of pony is and I havnt got any decent local shops. Tia for reading my overly long post x

If i was you i would just buy a cheap pony bridle and see how they are. Windsor are cheap make, but actually not horrible quality.

I'd send shires an email or give them a call to ask how long their pony size cheek pieces are - that's the best way to get a match to your current bridle.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Actually the one pair of cheek pieces in the shop I was in today were Windsor however they were so stiff I couldn't undo the hook :( hadn't even thought to email shires will do as I adore my bridle it's the Avignon (oak brown technically but has gone v dark) and despite much abusive riding in the rain and snow looks immaculate two years on. If that fails though finger is hovering over dever. Why can't all companies be that straight foreword?!

Get a saddler to shorten your cheek pieces - I regularly do it for riders who use bits with larger rings, gags etc. I need to get round to doing my own since changing bits last year but paying jobs always come first!
