I’m not surprised they are being wary about money if they’ve seen the go fund me. I’d be pretty worried I wouldn’t be getting payed.
And they have the nerve to ask you to pay for the pleasure of being their private groom!Another one wanted someone to pay for the privilege of bringing on their horse !
I’m looking for someone to part loan my mare, she’s 4 and in the process of being broken so looking for someone confident to do daily care, lunging, long lining and then eventually riding a couple of days a week for a small financial contribution
Many a time that has happened to them. Poor payers are a big problem with my own vets too, it’s sadly very common.Leahurst have been bitten a few times with people not paying bills.
Is this one just confusing to me….
Genuine reason for sale, I’ve bought a new one
Sad sale, would keep but I’ve bought a new one
Several variations of but what??![]()
Yes I find these a bit puzzling too.
"Genuine reason for sale [it broke my neck so], I’ve bought a new one
Sad sale, would keep [if I was a millionaire with a groom] but I’ve bought a new one [because this one is a maniac with multiple health problems]"
All the wanted ads I see at the moment seem to be for confidence givers for nervous people, because that's just the type of person you want to lend your horse to for free!Seen on a facebook Friesian group .... anyone got a 17hh dressage unicorn, whos also a perfect solo hacker to send to this anonymous poster for free who in exchange will send daily pics ..
WANTED – Dressage Horse on full Loan
Competent rider looking for next best friend to work through the BD levels with.
Has to be over 17hh as I'm 6ft tall and long legged
I have a 10* home waiting and regular traning with top dressage riders.
Not looking to purchase at the moment but I love to keep in touch with owners, sending daily photos and updates.
Not fussed about age as long as they are not green or dangerous and can hack out alone and possibly around dogs.
I had horses and Liphook ( well, John Walmsley back then) were my vets 50 odd years ago. I then moved around a bit, obviously used different vets, then one was referred to LEH for something, and I was apparently still registered as a client, and so didn't have to pay on collection of the horse ( I did, as I assumed I would have to). Was surprised as I'd assume such a dormant account would have been deleted years ago. They did ask if the horses registered with them were still with me!Liphooks Terms of Business are that full payment must be made before or at the time of your horse’s discharge , unless you are a registered first opinion client, so no different to Leahurst it seems. Liphook are my vets so I was able to take my horse home when he was ready and the bill turned up later. I guess that is one of the advantages of being a first opinion client, but they are probably my nearest vets anyway, it takes me about 15/20 minutes to get there.
Not allowed to (data protection). So they have to assume everyone is a poor payer.Maybe the equine hospitals get a heads up from the referring vets about what sort of payers the owners are likely to be
They forgot to add:Job opportunity!
Required skills:
1. Must be able to work 6 days a week, if you can NOT do that save yourself from reading any further.
2. Common sense is a necessity. For example, if I have to tell you to empty a full trash can that we are both staring at, I can assure you we are not going to get along.
3. Ability to listen, comprehend and execute instructions that have been given to you.
4. Must be able to operate equipment, clean stalls, fill water tanks/tubs, feed horses and whatever else the day may bring. I am extremely picky about clean water, feeding and general barn cleanliness, if you think that these things are not important don’t bother applying.
5. Must be physically fit enough to withstand a full day of work. Must be able to lift 50-80lbs and think that 10,000 steps/day is a minimum not maximum. It will be Hot, cold, wet, dusty and everywhere in between so if you don’t like to work in the elements don’t apply.
If you have made it to this point please send your resume to
Pay will be based on experience.
Living accommodations provided.
P.S. The view comes with job.

I'd be tempted to apply witn a glowing resume and references so I could reject and laugh in his face when told the salary and demand at least double and 70 days paid annual leave per year (increased to adjust for the missing day a week off)Sounds delightful! How do I apply?
Guess it depends on their clients. My old vets used to let me pay in instalments as I was strughling, my newish vets also do the same. They know the difference between those that won't pay and those that will in a couple of weeks. I know hospitals wouldn't which is totally understandable. My horse has been admitted to Leahurst as a colic emergency. He didn't need surgery but was admitted for about 3 days and had a lot of tests as he'd had unexplained colics before. They took my credit card details on arrival at about 10pm and took a deposit. I had to pay in full before removing him from the site, I don't recall the exact bill but in the £1000's. I'm not a bad payer at all but these rules come about because so many people believe they are entitled to something for nothing these days. If business don't come down on the non payers then either they go out of business or the good payers are covering other peoples bills whether they choose to or not.
I did recently take a horse to Rossdales, never been before and they billed me at the end of the month but this was only!! a few hundred for lameness work up, xrays and remedial shoeing. This did surprise me tbh.
