Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

They are lucky a vet they are not registered with came out without payment upfront. It's usually not a good sign if your own vet won't attend in an emergency unless they're away at a camp / competition or something. I've heard people whinging about one near me who wont turn up if there's a large outstanding bill but the owners feel like it's not their fault if they don't pay.

Exactly this. I had to have an emergency vet to my boy late on Saturday night, my vet uses an out of hours service (they are 3 local independent vets who all work together) I had to pay £300 up front before she came out, which was fine with me. She saved my boys life. I would never expect a vet who i didn't have an account with to come out and not be paid. After the event she put me on her books so if the situation arose again i would only pay on invoice.

Parents of a child influencer who are currently pushing a GFM for stable building put a sob story post on. Lots of drama but we can’t tell you about it. Oh by the way here’s our GFM link.
Cynical me thinks it is just a way to get more people to donate...

Post has been removed now but someone called out a vet they weren’t registered with in an emergency to their horse, horse was sadly PTS. They then didn’t pay said vet for 9 days as ‘they were grieving’, and are ‘disgusted’ that the vet has sent them a credit control letter chasing for payment….
I saw that too. Thankfully for my sanity 99.99% of comments were saying the vets were not out of order, with many saying most vets will want payment before coming out when you are not a client.

There’s an expectation that if it’s an emergency pts welfare situation they will attend non registered clients

I dunno, the one we had of these (a livery of mine), they asked for £500 upfront before attending. In this case I guess as with most others, they don't know if it's a PTS situation before they get there but even if they did, I don't see why they should attend an unregistered new client without an agreement and payment in place.

I once had to call a vet I wasn’t registered to to come PTS my horse. I’d recently moved house and just hadn’t gotten round to it yet when I found her with a broken leg.
When I rang, they said they usually take payment up front for new clients but wouldn’t on this occasion as it was an emergency. I was so grateful - I didn’t have my card on me and I really wasn’t in a position to leave the horse unattended.

They rang me for payment the next day and I paid. Fair enough!

100%, anything for a few quid 🤮 even if there is a private family matter why share it at all ? “Protecting the kids” my ar*e

I saw that and rolled my eyes!

My eyes rolled so far back I almost needed medical assistance to re-locate them.

I've noticed today that they've announced they're now at a new temporary address, with a note to their supporting brands - "To any brands - please don’t send anything to our old address. We’re not expecting anything at all, just wanted to pop a little note here so nothing goes astray."
Hmmm.
Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't have thought that Facebook was the ideal place to be communicating this info to their supporting brands? Surely you'd contact them directly and explain the situation?
In another post, again linked to the GFM, there's something about the children having been through "more than any children should have to face recently". Yes, that's what happens when you exploit your children for financial gain. Sorry if that sounds brutal, but the whole thing is really getting on my nerves now.

Another good one. Confident part loaner wanted for a non rideable horse and they must be prepared to pay for the privilege of doing so. Not suitable for children, novices or beginners.

Looking for a kind, responsible, reliable EXPERIENCED ADULT to share some special time with Maverick, my affectionate and gentle 14.3hh, 17-year-old Welsh Section D. He’s currently not rideable due to ongoing medical investigations, and can’t say if he ever can be ridden. so this is all about groundwork, grooming, stable management, and above all loving care.

Maverick has a cheeky side and is forward-going, so confidence is needed. He thrives on attention and will reward you with his sweet, affectionate nature—soft velvet nose, gentle licks after treats, and whinnies to say hello, he’ll give you a shove now and again, not nasty, just him. ADULTS ONLY PLEASE, he’s not for novices or beginners.

The arrangement would be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternate Saturdays in ****, with a small contribution towards his care.

"Come and look after my rude loon for me and pay for the pleasure."

I worked for a woman who had managed to collect 17 horses of her own - all with various degrees of soundness issues.
She decided on some of the less broken ones to get sharers but with a heavy emphasis on groundwork/grooming/petting.
She only got one reply for one of the mares. This woman god love her was a numpty. The little mare was quite kind but figured out very quickly this woman was an idiot and it was downhill from there. Boss had to tell sharer it wasn’t working out and the sharer took it very badly.
