Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

So reading between the lines she's sent a horse away on grass livery/companion loan (to be confirmed) over winter who was already poor by her own admission and then not checked on it once even though it was only 10 mins down the road. On top of it being lean going into winter it's suffered severe rain scaled or something looking very similar (likely mild to start but left untreated and rugged creating a perfect environment for bacteria to get in and thrive) which now the rug has been removed has been discovered to be an issue (surprise surprise!!). I'd imagine one visit from the vet with cleaning up, antibiotics and creams etc to help heal the probably very sore and itchy would is likely to be more than £300, without investigating the cause of the weight issues.

She would have been better keeping her head down and sorting a payment plan with the vet id funds were really that tight. Maybe hire out the new arena to help cover some of the cost or get a sharer for the ridden horse. Poor Dave!!
 
Just seen a post from a Yorkshire newspaper about a rider who was 27.5 stone but has lost a third of her bodyweight.

Apparently she put on a lot of weight following a series of bereavements and said 'I was so big my body couldn't breathe on its own.'

There is a photo of her on a horse and she does look quite big...

Of course, losing almost 10 stone is quite an achievement but most of the comments were quite damning, stating that she is still much too heavy to be on a horse.
She may well regret agreeing to the story being run.

I saw that.

Lots of people defending the rider and saying the people who are saying she’s too heavy are fat shamers.

The thing is, it’s a Reach Media article who thrive on engagement, negative or not and this is perfect fodder for them.

I didn't realise, but it seems that it's on more than one FB group. Most of the comments I saw were along the lines of 'shouldn't be anywhere near a horse', but I can certainly believe that there will be people defending the lady in question.
I find the whole thing very uncomfortable really. I can understand why anyone who was 10 stone lighter would want to celebrate losing such a massive amount of weight, but the fact that said person was/is a rider puts a slightly different perspective on it.

Just found this, seems she's actually after 1k or 3k but Go Fund Me apparently want her to get the £300 first. And she has 'all right' to ask for the money as she's didn't do this to him. Some would argue leaving your horse unchecked 10 mins down the road for 3 months is your doing but hey ho.

Yeah I was a bit shocked to see she actually wants even more, as if him needing more medical care than just £300 worth justifies it! The lack of shame!
I'll admit I ended up blocking her because just seeing her post was getting me indignant for poor Dave.
Although interesting she mentions about 'not putting him down like others have said' or something like that, which suggests she's either had backlash elsewhere because he's actually in worse condition, or she's using it as an excuse in her head to justify her GFM ad neglect because look at her she's saaaaaving him.

Unless I have got the wrong person, fairly sure I haven't, it seems pretty telling she's not posted it in a more local equine group to where she is based.

Give me your big, safe hack but just for the summer. I'll send it back when the weather gets bad.

I have just started my search for a part loan after ill health meant I had to sell my mare at Christmas. I put an ad on a couple of local FB groups and well, I have had some interesting replies!

One woman has 2 horses. One is recovering from a serious illness and is on box rest and the other is 3. Her offer is for me to start the rehab on the box rest horse, 3-4 times a week (walking in hand to start) plus mucking out etc, for £35 a week (me to pay!). Additionally, if she is happy with how it is going she will let me start the ground work and backing of her youngster for an extra £10 per week. So she wants me to pay circa £200 a month to rehab one and back another! On a quick FB stalk I also see she has a GoFundMe asking for £10k towards the vet bill. This was around 3 month ago and she has had about £150 donated. I politely declined her offer!

I have had at least a couple more wanting young horses bringing on or problem horses worked through some issues, all at my cost.

Thankfully I have one to see today who seems genuine so we will see!

People are very strange aren't they. I'd never dream of asking someone to pay me to HELP me, it's all very odd!

I guess at least she's being honest about the situation. Better that than most, who'd take the horse then return as a surprise come winter.
 
After being let down last minute...I am now looking again for a 13hh plus to loan or lwvtb. Must be sane and sensible and great in traffic. Must be able to live on their own. Although there are horses in the next paddock for half of the year.

Give me your horse for free so i can traumatise it by leaving alone for 6 months!
 
The ‘unicorn’ thing drives me potty!! I have a lovely little horse that I may need sell next year. She’s fab, does everything, wins everything, a real typical pony club/riding club type absolutely perfect for a teenager or small adult. Has enough about her that she will affiliate at the lower levels in time (she’s only 6).

However, she can hot up on the way home out hacking alone and will buck if excited or if she doesn’t fancy doing something. Nothing dreadful, I wouldn’t consider her dangerous but she’d eat a novice for breakfast and she needs a competent rider with a sense of humour.

I’m desperately hoping she will be ready to affiliate before I have to make some tough decisions as I really worry the market isn’t there for her at the lower levels.

@Ahrena you're girl sounds very similar to mine. I could do with finding a sharer for her but I dread trying to weed through the dreamers.

I’m another owner of a mare with abit about them who needs someone with a sense of humour that can sit the odd buck!

My father bought a pony that had bolted at a pony club rally in view of everyone. She became a fabulous show jumper and was only loaned out never sold when I outgrew her. He did tend to lend me out to people to ride ponies children were struggling with. I’m old and not brave now though!
