Shishkin wasn't going right from the start. He looked OK cantering back so hopefully there are no underlying issues and he is just having an off day as that was a very poor showing from him today.

Energumene wasn't flawless but he did it well. I was shouting home Venetia's horse again. She has been in absolutely flying form in recent weeks so that can only bode well for the Gold Cup on Friday.
The right horse won and I’m pleased for Willie Mullins, I think Shiskin just hated the ground.

Well that was a rollercoaster of a race meeting today! Amazing how the weather can change things in such a short space of time. The cross country race makes far more pleasant viewing as they just go that much slower and look to be in their comfort zones and enjoying it. Tiger loves it. What a superstar! He pops those jumps effortlessly.
Thrilled for Charlie and Venetia aswell.

I think he may be a wee bit special! A good horse will go on any ground and that ground looked just plain yuk by the end! I am glad they ended up weaving around the hurdle sites for better ground.

This. No one backed him hence his price. Favourites or short priced winners get a bigger reception because people want to go and cheer their cash maker back in. Most people at Cheltenham are there for the booze, gambling and to say they have been. They have no interest in the horses, trainers or their pasts so long as they win them money.

The first time I went to the races was at Cheltenham last December the day after Corach Rambler won there. I was horrified by the amount of ratarsed people there who spent the whole time in the various bars all of which were rammed. It was a day like today wet but also windy. I spent the whole day moving between the back of the Princess Royal stand to watch the parade ring and the front to watch the racing. Was able to stay dry but not warm!! I agree the vast number are there for the "social".

Went to Warwick when Corach Rambler ran there, a completely different experience vast majority were there to watch the racing yes there was a fair bit of drinking but not ratarsed drunk!! I really enjoyed that day. Have some free tickets to the Cheltenham April meeting so will use them, just need to work out how to smuggle some food in as captive catering prices at Cheltenham are obscene!!

You need to become pals with some of the stable staff going to whatever meeting you are! We can quite literally take anything we want into the course from the stable side ??

I took Corach that day at Warick and when he won at Aintree. Jaimie had him down at Cheltenham and Ascot.

Did not recognise you in the parade ring!! Cheltenham does bag searches and it is there I want to smuggle food in to if I use the free tickets in April!!

Random question but does anyone know who was escorting the winning horses in?
I'm intrigued by the uniform?

Judging by the plume, some form of Hussars or Dragoons uniform. Bear with, will tell you more specifically!

According to This is Hunting UK, it is the Royal Hussars.

"Sadly no hunt staff at Cheltenham today or the rest of the week. Although the Royal Hussars did look smart, we hope next year Cheltenham will agree that hunt staff attend each day of the Festival."
