What would you expect to pay for DIY livery?

Managed livery yard, stable, all year turnout (poss individual, not sure yet), grass school, good hacking (as far as I can tell anyway, don't know the area that well). No bedding or hay supplied but room to store it. Wash area, secure tack room, feed room etc.

:)

It was all going so well until you said 'grass school' is there also another school with a surface? With just a grass school I would probably only pay £90 a month as it would mean no schooling in wet weather or winter.

I've been on two DIY yards locally with the option of assisted. All year turnout, good hacking, sand or sand and rubber school, grass schooling areas, nothing included hay/bedding wise one was £130 a month and the other £120. The £120 a month (current yard) is AMAZING. (although neither yard has had a school with lights)

Why do you ask?

£25 per week is about average around chelt. X

I'd say £30 a week if you want somewhere decent though, all the £25 a week places I went to look at usually involved either an insane YO or having to hack across main roads.

They are all mental yo's - that's why I gave up on livery and ended up going private! Never ever going back on a livery unless they invent one without mental horse owners, yo's and dangerous facilities! Bitter - me.....? :D

I seem to have found local gold dust then, my current yard is amazing.

My old yard had world war's including someone calling social services, lies about being hit by another livery, YO shooting an abandoned horse and telling us it had been rehomed, YO selling a horse without owner knowing, YO fertillising fields before the longest dry spell in history... the list goes on!!!

All the livery yards are pricey . Unless you actually 'need' to use a school it works out a lot cheaper to box or hack to the school and hire it by the hour.

Last Livery yard was charging us about £80 per month but that was about 10 years ago.

Glad we are off them and using a horse friendly farm.

Thanks guys :) Theres potentially use of a school a few minutes hack away, negotiations are currently in place.

I charge £30 a week, which includes all year turn out either individually or in groups, stable in a seperate American barn to the main yard, and use of all facilities (most of which are still under construction) which includes indoor and outdoor schools (floodlit), showjumping paddock, xc course, solarium and wash box with hot and cold water, loading ramp, covered horse walker, lunge pen, etc.

Out of interest what would having an all weather floodlit outdoor school do for the price? Not that there will be one any time soon.

Also - what are hay prices like in Glos area? Mine is currently included so have no idea :o

I'm on a lovely yard with 24/7 year round turnout - individual or groups, 2 outdoor schools - one dressage, and one for jumping, XC schooling fences. DIY, assisted, part or full livery, good hacking

All rubber matted with drinkers, several tack rooms, hay/feed/bedding storage - or you can buy it off the yard

No atmospheres, lovely people with a range from broodmares, hacking people and competition horses.

£35/wk

We sell hay, price is currently £4 a bale, delivered free for 20 or more bales.

My old yard with all year turnout, floodlit school, jumping paddock and okay hacking was £27 a week but was so badly managed and over grazed.

My current yard includes all that plus indoor school, better hacking and hay and shavings and better managed is £42 a week.

Also hay prices are quite good here. We paid £10 for a bale of large haylage and £3 for a small bale of hay. :)

I travel from central Cheltenham to Stroud centre for work so I am looking for somewhere on route (shurdington, witcombe, bisley, slad, painswick, sheepscombe etc). I need DIY (or possibly assisted DIY but can be flexible) must have hacking and school. Any ideas??? Please PM or reply to this post!! please!

Thanks
