Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there are any ditches in this and what the course is like generally?

I am not supposed to be doing ditches in competition until we have built more confidence which has messed up my July plans but Chelt is only 15 min from us so I would like to do it if it's nice.

Thanks

Yep there is a spooky ditch as the second to last fence. It is under trees and in a dip, so not a particularly friendly one! Ground was rock solid last year too!

I agree with KatB - the ditch is horrible - probably influenced by getting eliminated there whilst doing the PN a couple of years ago

Little horror had jumped all the technical fences brilliantly too

I thought last year the Intros just had to go down through the dip but not actually over the ditch - they went over the side where they had filled it in a bit? I am quite happy to be corrected on that!

I think you're right introeventer, I don't think the Intro have to jump the ditch, but find their way around the side of it, but there's not much room and you do have to go down a steep slope and back up the other side!
Didn't go last year, but this is what I remember from the yr before. Ground is always hard too!!

Ooh not sure, w/d before XC because of gound, so did quick dash round out of interest, TBH was prob walking the PN.... still not great for a spooky horse anyway!!

Yep that's right, the ditch is only in the PN, or it was last year. I can also second the rock hard ground, must be the time of year but they make no effort to improve it. We also went on the hottest day of the year last year so not very pleasant. The course is generally quite flat apart from the ditch dip, and the jumps are quite nice, also no water from what I can remember.

Yep there is no water. Same as us, we were there on seriously hot day. Had been to Stockland Lovell week before and ground had been worked on and was ok, then Cheltenham was rock solid.

Hmmm, spooky fences, water etc not a problem to us. It's just ditches that are an issue.

I think I will enter and as it's only ten mins away I can always just SJ and Dressage if the ground is bad. Hopefully if this weather continues it won't be a problem!

Thanks everyone for your comments.
