My beautiful 5 year old labrador, Hera has just had what first appeared to be a small fatty lump removed from her ribs.
Unfortunately it's a grade 2 mast cell tumour and needs further treatment.
She will need more surgery to remove more of the surrounding area and also chemo.
She is insured with NFU (so that's one less thing to worry about).

Luckily I've never had to go down the specialist route with a dog before. I have the option of Animal Health Trust, Newmarket. Dick White Newmarket, or Cambridge Uni vet hosp all within 40 mins.
Has anyone used any of these? which would you recommend?

What are the downsides of Dog chemo?

I'm talking to my vet again on Wed and would like to be a bit clearer in my mind first.

I'm sorry Thistle, I can't offer any personal experiences. I can only wsh you some good luck (vibes on the way). But I have had grooming clients bring their post-chemo dogs for grooming. The ones that I've experienced have done remarkably well after their treatment. It does do weird things to the hair, but unlike people, it doesn't all fall off. That's the only experience I've had...not much use.
