Turn out has stopped at my yard,so my mare is in 24/7.
she is currently fed adlib hay and 2 feeds a day of alpha A oil, meadow herb mix, pink powder and garlic.
she is looking good but i would like to continue building condition and muscle as she gets fitter.
She tends to wolf her feed so was looking at feeding cherry chaff to spend longer eating and for added condition etc.
a friends horse looked good on it.
has anyone fed it before? and would it be ok added onto her current feed ? shes almost fed the max of alpha A oil per day.
Thanks

why bother?
if your feedin alfa a oil and dont see what the point in changeing is.. there are both just fors of forage..

You can feed Chaff or alfa a with anything.. i just dont see why.
I think you need to look at what you feeding, It may be easier to feed more quality forage than bulking out on chaffs.

i was not going to change, simply add the chaff alongside the alfa and mix to bulk out her feed, chew for longer as she rushes eating etc.
she is already on reasonable quality hay adlib.
i was just checking if it is ok to feed chaff alongside alfa a as she is alreday on the max amount of alfa per day?

Surely it would be a waste of money, as Alfa Oil and Cherry Chaff are basically very similar - high oil chaffs, both designed for conditioning. Why not change her mix to something more conditioning? Like Bailey's No 4 or Calm & Condition?
