Hi, has anyone been to Cherwell before please ?
we are due to travel there from Basingstoke next Saturday 24th Feb to compete in Riding Club area 6 dressage qualifier and just trying to figure out best towing route.

Sat Nav suggests the Newbury Oxford route as simplest but Cherwell advice says entry from eastbound carriageway of A40
i don't want to get there and find we are lost :-(

I'm not amazingly familiar with CHerwell (I have only been there once looking at livery) but it's on the eastbound side of the carriageway and if you were on the westbound carriageway you'd have to go past it go around the next roundabout and comeback. Sorry I can't link photos but you'll see what I mean if you look at where Cherwell is on google maps.

If I were you I would go Oxford, Newbury but go around the north of Oxford rather than than the south when going there. I.e. get off at the Peartree interchange onto the A44 towards Oxford then on to the A40 which will have you going the right way.

Hope that helps.

Ditto this. We get there from the south as well and always go via the Peartree roundabout, far better than the other way around the ring road and you’re on the right side of the carriageway.

Been there many times and never had an issue with traffic! Possibly surprising given how Oxford can be! Love Cherwell, it’s one of my favourite venues.

The entrance is on a dual carriage way, and if you come in from the A40 off the A34 side, you should be on the correct side of the carriage way.
Otherwise, you have to go past it, and turn round at a small roundabout.

It is sign posted, but the entrance sort of creeps up on you as is partly hidden by trees, so even though I know where it is, I slow right down in order to not miss it!
It’s a fabulous venue, probably my favourite in the area. Shame it doesn’t have an indoor arena too!

thanks for the great advice, much appreciated !
I will make a plan and bear in mind if end up wrong side of dual carriageway can take the next roundabout to get to it :-)

fingers crossed for OK traffic !
