Do you prefer to have your helmet camera on a chest mount or a helmet mount? Pros and cons are appreciated as I don't know which mount I should buy for my GoPro4.

I have both, but have only used my chest one while riding, and while it was good, when I cantered or moved suddenly it tended to fall down and film my chest instead of in front of me! I have used my helmet mount for skiing and it was really good, but as I only have the stick on ones, I can't quite bring myself to stick a mount on my helmet! It also depends which viewpoint you want as the helmet one is going to be higher.

I have only used a helmet mounted camera, current one clips on to an elasticated hat band and the clip is then held in place by my Hi-Viz hat band, this eliminates any movement and I am very pleased with the filming I've done so far. The only thing that was at all odd was that it makes where we live look like the sort of place that would be a tourist attraction :) It is a nice place but we appreciated it more on film!

I've always been afraid of the helmet ones as I've heard so many horrible stories about people coming off, landing on their head and so on the camera and having horrible head injuries from the pressure point - not to mention Michael Schumacher!!

However chest doesn't film where you look like with helmet, and can slip around a bit. Would never opt for a head one though.

Nothing should be attached to the outside of a hat. The whole point of a hat is it spreads the impact. If there is something attached stopping the spread its not going to work as intended

I had my go pro stuck to my hs1. Had a fall and landed directly on the camera, the camera was fine, the hs1 was a write off and 6 months later I still suffer from post concussion syndrome. If you have it on your hat please use an elasticated band so it can ping off.
