Ok...maybe not "MURDER" but acted like a loon!
Chester , who has been WONDERFUL for so long now and not been pulling ANY conflict whatsoever, reared up and attempted to throw me yesterday right upon mounting!
He has given pathetic attemts at bucking in the past, but we have worked through all of that and thought his testing point was worked through.
Rearing up he has never done
it was not a serious "High O Silver" rear, but enough to make me feel nervous and hop off for more groundwork
(perhaps should have stayed mounted and worked through it , but oh well...used my best instincts)
When we began ground work (still in full tack)
he BUCKED AND BUCKED like a rodeo bronc!
He was half crazed!
He calmed down enough to be ridden and I did allow Cajla to ride him (only in the round pen) but I have to say it was unusual behavior for him
I checked all of his tack and the only difference was that I had let the bridle out one notch as it seemed to be getting tight on him. Could that have been all it took?
Also...it was my first attempt to ride him in the new round pen. That was another change , but not one that I would think would cause a crazy day! He has been worked from the ground in there many times now very well behaved
I am making it all out to just be an "off day" like we all have
but I truly hope he has very few more!
advice?
