He is off on about a 3 hours drive journey to be worked with a trainer for cutting and cattle roping. If he works out well he may be purchased by the man. he thinks he may be a bit small but he really liked him so wants to take him on a trial. We drew up a contract for purchase and I was paid in advance with the idea that if Chester is returned in x amount of days he will be given a refund. Fine by me either way. if he returns him I got some free training and cutting experience for Chester.

I have always thought he would be suited to that type of thing.

I hope he keeps him,his potential is a bit wasted with me really. He is too great to just be my trail horse.

I think Misty is going to work out a lot better for that purpose for my daughter and I.

Chester was always a bit too much horse for us.

wish me luck that he falls in love with him and his short stature does not prove an issue.

How small is he? My cutting horse is only 14.3hh and Golden is a roping horse and she is only 14.2hh. Often the smaller ones are great for this, however I only work small cattle

His is just 15 hh. Get him a trim and he is 14.3

This man is large though. I have no doubts he (Chester) can handle it but this man wanted him just a tad taller . I have a feeling it will not matter though as he is built and has a lot of heart.

He loved his breeding too.

Chester should have been doing something like this years ago imo. I am glad I finally had the courage to just give in and make up my mind.
I kept flip flopping with him for the last three years.

Chester has been a bully here to the other horses and it felt SO good today to be able to let my little mare out today to romp with Tex and not have to worry about her being injured! She has been running, bucking, rolling and just having a great day. There is no way I would put her in with Chester and that was the main reason I became firm on selling
 
Oh, that is great news. My uncle used a 14.3 for roping and he was almost 6 feet tall, but Indian was built too.

I think[i/] I have found a great new owner for Harv too. I too have bitten the bullet and made a tough decision, but I think it will be best in the long run.

Fingers crossed this guy falls for Chester and gives him a home for life.
 
I know what you mean about a home for life. Sadly with horses though I doubt many have a home for life. I think horses and owners evolve and eventually a horse changes as far as what it is best intended for with age etc.

For ex..... for the next how ever many years this man may get great use out of Chester with roping/cutting. Chester will no doubt age though and maybe he will have to replace him with a younger model . Seeing as he is a gelding and cannot be used for breeding I would rather see him passed on to another owner....like a young rider looking for their first horse rather than see him put out to pasture and not used. Does that make sense? lol
As long as he always has a loving home that cares for him and respects him I could care less how many times he changes owners. I wish there was a way to always know where he was and that he was happy but once you sell them you lose that right sadly

Well, my uncle competed on Indian until they reached the ripe old ages of 63 (uncle terry) and 23 (indian), and won the South Carolina Champion Heeler trophy at age 60 and 23! So I think it could be a long term home, especially if he turns out to be a good cutter!
