It had all been going so well. She was sound and I'd even walked her out in-hand a couple of times along the lanes. Then the old abscess hole started to get a bit smelly and she didn't look as free flowing in her movement. :( The farrier was due today anyway, so I explained that I had needed to clean the hole out and that she didn't look quite right when it was gunky - so he opened it all up.

I was pleased however when he said that she is making good progress. Everything above the 'event line' is growing at a much better angle. He said that her heels have moved back and that they will be even further back once the hoof has fully grown out. Her soles are starting to show concavity (sp?) too.

So I must stay positive. Once I'm happy that she's sound I can continue to walk her out, plus we're still on course for bringing her back into ridden work once her hoof has grown (so not the awful setback that I had feared). :)

A little vid of some horse snot  and Floss being a grumpy bum again  .

Mr P pretends to be frightened by a magpie. :p

That doesn't look so bad F, it's grown down a long way now. You're nearly there :) Looks good and clean and not like it's about to bust open again at least.

I love Floss :D Nitty isn't ever *quite* that mean to BH though!

He still loves her though. Silly boy.

Apologies but I mustve missed first thread, what happened?
Sorry, I should have posted the before photo for the first time readers.

What a difference Faracat! You almost wouldnt think it was the same foot! Although the tracks have been dug out, they look pretty clean, and the whole shape of the foot is a billion times better! You must be pleased!
Lovely video's, I just love arabs :)

F, you didn't post the photo with the gaping hole in her foot. That's the one that makes me go  the most! Definitely at least 100 times better, well done you and your farrier, I know it's been a long slog but it looks so much better now. I can't wait to see ridden pictures!

My new farrier is great. He's really kept me positive through the whole saga, but I knew that I couldn't give up on the mare and just wanted to get her sound with good hooves again.

I will bore you all to tears with photos and vids once she's ridden again. ;)

ETA. Thanks Coss. :)
