Just wondering if cheval horse trailers are any good. Any information on them would be great. Or even bateson and ifor

I had an old ifor model that leaked and sweat like mad with condensation. But was nice sturdy trailer, is this a common problem with them? Thanks
 
I have one! A Pullman suspension! We love it; pulls brilliant horse loves it. Recently towed for 2 hours & horse & trailer were a dream!
 
Had a mare and foal Cheval-loved it, everything loaded and travelled well in it, including youngster brought up from Wales and Cumbria to Scotland. Easy ramps/doors etc for use by myself, pullman, really light inside.
 
Thanks I've been pricing up the pullman one trailer mare and foal box. But also like the idea of a double for same price. Is their plenty of room in the pullman?

We have this and it's great, it's the Pullman suspension. Plenty of room for a 16.2hh. dont use it much but had one on a good 5 hour or so trip and was perfect. We use as a single basically as there's no partition obviously. It will take a foal alongside as its bigger than a single. You can look up the exact various dimensions on line of each box and compare them.

Have a look at one if you know someone who has one, or try and spot one at a show even and ask for a nosey.

You need to think wether you want option of taking 2 or not, which will dictate size for you.

Thanks gem. I quite like the cheva liberte gold pony light trailer upto two 16hh. Mam weight 1600kg but will need to get it downplated.
 
I have a Robinsons Requisite, which is made by Cheval, i love mine, tows nicely and suits me fine.

We chose this because the vehicle we had for towing had a towing capacity of 1800kgs.
 
Oh wow thanks joyous so much cheaper too. The one trailer is within my towing weights. Think I might buy a new one of them ��

The GT1 at 720 empty and 1400 MAM is well within the 1500 MAM you have available for a trailer on a B licence
No down plating needed and means you can have a GVW of 2100 in the future should you change vehicle

Hi, we used to have a 2003 series cheval liberte trailer before we bought our lorry. It was a brilliant box - great to tow and lovely and light and airy inside. The only downside to the trailer was that we got a bit of rotting (and eventually splitting) in the top corner of one of the wooden side panels because when you open the doors side ways (like barn doors) it drops a lot a lot of weight on the sides/hinges and this combined with rain didn't bode well.
 
We had a cheval liberte 2 horse trailer for about 9 years - parents only sold it because I took the horse away to uni so wasn't really going to be towing it (I can't tow). Had one issue where dad somehow managed to break the jockey wheel - genuinely no idea how that happened - other than that it was fine :) Horse always arrived safe and sound and happily anyway!

They don't do them anymore I don't think. Unless they have restarted - I bought one of the last requisite cheval trailers over 3 years ago. Sold it last summer and when contacting robinsons to confirm I was the original buyer they said it was one of the last to be sold. I had no problems with it other than when doing an emergency stop with a 500kg mare she broke the breast bar. I had it reinforced at the welding point. Great to tow, very smooth

We bought ours from Toller at a good price and as it was going abroad quite soon after purchase we even got the continental rear lights (which they come with since they are all imported) thrown in.
We have a 2 horse model with Pullman suspension. Our only gripe is having to find replacement bungees occasionally as the ones holding the rear fly screen down perish if exposed to sunlight for long periods.

I have the same issue with the bungees - i generally tie it down with baler twine now, and remove them before travelling as my mare hates them waving around anyway.

I have a Cheval Liberte single trailer, 2007 model.

I've found the seals between the trailer and ramp and trailer and jockey door have not worn well and the trailer leaks at these points when the trailer is standing in the rain.

Otherwise no complaints, light and airy trailer, easy to tow and use.

Hi, I loved it and so did my mare but I upgraded to a double Ifor 505 and my mare won't go straight in! I would definitely buy another cheval double
 
Do the barn type doors also have a roller blind or are they solid? How do you find the build quality compared to IWT or Bateson? Thanks
