Hi,
I am looking for a new ish Cheval Liberte horse trailer. It needs to be one of the lighter weight ones as we have a small 4x4. Does anyone have any views? Or knows of one for sale?
Thanks

I have a single Cheval as the double was slightly overweight. There is lots of space, my youngest travels really well in it and it tows great.

I would of preferred a double trailer but I very rarely take more than one horse out, and having a single was the only way I could keep it legal without taking changing car and doing my towing test.

I have a light one which we used to tow with a Volvo estate. Light enough for one big horse or two smaller ones and we were still under weight.

We might be selling it soon PM if you want but we're not making descion until after Christmas :)

Just watching this with interest, I've just sold my 505 and Freelander as I'm off on holiday courtesy of the military lol, and didn't want them sitting around for 6/8 months, I've been looking at buying the single Chevale Liberte when I get back as with the weights I could tow it with our crossover (Mokka) instead of buying another Landy easy with just the one neddy. Ive heard some really good reviews about them now they have the Aluminium floor as opposed to the older ones?

i have the Robinsons version , still a cheval but badged for Robinsons , its lightweight (740) the same size as a 505 inside, they have great suspension , better than the ifor Williams imo
aluminium floor as well , tows really nice
I am also selling mine as ive treated myself to a bigger trailer

I have a cheval trailer model 2003 made in 2007 its the lightweight front unload version and cheval tell me its unladen weight is 750kg. I tow with a Nissan xtrail on a b license and its fine, its down plated which gives me plenty of room for my horse and with spare load weight.
However cheval have told me today ( after enquiring about top doors ) that they are no longer allowed to downplate any of their trailers now due to a new legistration that has come in unless it is requested when buying a brand new one from them and at time of ordering. She did say in a " you didn't hear this from me " conversation that you can buy blank vin plates off the net by doing a google search and filling the details in.

The law is now that trailers made after October last year must be plated with the paperwork allowing other options for them to be down plated

IFOR makes their 403 1600 as standard but on the paperwork when contructed they also give other plating options such as 1500 1400 1300
