Cheval Liberte trailer - anyone used?

I've got a 13.2 pony (I'm 5'1", so don't need anything bigger) - I'm way, way over the age where I need to take a trailer test, but am getting cold feet about buying a box - if we're having a recession, maybe not the best idea.

BUT don't want to buy a huge 4x4 to pull and Ifor Williams. So looking at lightweight trailers. The CHEVAL LIBERTE seems a good idea, but I've never seen one, still less used one.

has anyone tried them out?

Yes. We have one for our monsters - love it. If you get the model with the pullman suspension it tows really smoothly. The gas assisted ramps and relative light weight of the trailer means I can manage it on my own. It is nice and bright and airy inside too, and the full size grooms door is great!
 
Girl at my yard used to have one, she has moved now, but she pulled it with a little 2 door Mitsubishi Pinin. She had a 14h pony at the time then got a 16h Thoroughbred. It was a single horse trailer, looked tiny from the outside but was like a Tardis once you got in! She loved it and being on her own could handle it really easily at shows etc.
 
Never used one but was pleasantly suprised when I seen inside one. Seemed much more robust than the Requisite (I thought they were the same trailer). For a small pony I think they are ideal but not so much for a larger horse. My friend borrowed one and her horse nearly took her side off coming out as its tight, also the one I saw didnt use the front ramp either due to the size. It also had a large tack locker in it which is great but took a lot of room up if you did want to froint unload also its pretty dangerous as you cant get out in an emergancy from inside if its shut, bit like the IW really as you can only open and shut from the outside.
 
if you look back through the posts about a week or so, someone put one up about these types of trailers being used all the time in Europe they also posted some pics of what we would think of as lightweight trailers, as in the UK we are used to seeing IW and Rice type ones here.

Anyway post went something along the lines of them being used all over the place and quite common even for large horses. Also think it was something to do with them being able to tow with cars as opposed to 4WDs and continental towing laws??
 
Found it - thanks (went back 28 pages - amazing what I've missed)

so maybe a Rav4 at 1500 braked towing weight and a 1003XL Cheval Liberte that weighs in at 600 Kg would be fine for my 350 Kg pony

scary thought. but cheaper than the Renault Master van I'd almost talked myself into.

need to get some lessons - soon

and then decide on a car
