Hi there! Have been searching everywhere for feedback on Cheval Liberte trailers. Noticed a thread was done a little while back but wondering if anyone had any new thoughts about them. Am very tempted but for the same price as the model I'm looking at I could get a new Ifor???

Many thanks!

I have one and am really pleased with it I went for the 2003 XL.

Couple of niggly things but then you expect that with anything.

I don't like the tack locker as you can't get under the bar if the side door is shut.

So if you have the option don't have one fitted!

When I looked at them I thought they were a little flimsy. I know that Ifors are strong, last well & hold their re-sale price well so I would certainly go for the Ifor rather than the Cheval.

In preference over both though I would go for a Bateson Deauville, altogether a better engineered & built trailer....IMO

We have one, a 2003 and can't really fault it. Fantastic to tow and with a pullman suspension it is an easy ride for the horses. They are lightweight and low maintenance.

I had a look recently at Ifor's, Bateson's and these, and would agree that they seem a bit flimsy by comparison. Also, watched a couple on ebay which didn't sell even thought they were heavily discounted from new retail price (only 18 months old one of them) which might suggest they don't hold their value very well. I got a Bateson in the end, don't think there's a massive difference in price esp if you go to Bateson's direct at Marple as they have a discount if you buy directly from the factory (7.5%). Very pleased with the Bateson and it has the independant suspension like the CL, (IW is leaf spring) it's lighter than the IW and I think they hold their value well (although hardly ever seen any 2nd hand ones for sale!!)
