I know its not horsey but didn't know where else to post.

I picked up my chickens yesterday and my dogs and 2 of my cats are not bothered by them at all , however my kitten who is is about 3 1/2 months is already in stalk mode. He is a bit of a git already he beats up (when he gets the chance) my 2 oldie cats and has no fear whats so ever of my dogs ( GSD and sheltie x JRT ). Infact plays and sleeps with the GSD. He has started to bring in presents !

He will be done as soon as possible and I am hoping that this will calm him down. The little sod is trying to escape and screaming his head off as we speak. Whats the soonest he can be done and will it effect him wanting to beat up/kill everything

We find that new cats enjoy stalking the chickens, but as they creep nearer and nearer they realise how BIG the chickens are, that they are not just mildly over-sized sparrows and usually find a very good reason to sneak away again.

As they get more used to the chickens they may have a go - but by then the chickens have got their measure. I have had around a dozen different cats living with my free range chickens, not to mention all the neighbouring cats, and none have succeeded in taking a chicken yet.
