To serve as a permanent reminder of Chico's emergency ordeal I have decided to put everything down in a blog.

If Chico makes a full recovery then i would hope the blog would be helpful for other people going through the same thing so they can see what the future might hold for their beloved equine.

On the other hand if the worst happens at any point I will be able to remember his final days with every bit of clarity and fondness.

Have a read if you have a few minutes to spare :o

That's a really good idea :)
It's nice to see and hear about his progress as colic surgery is always something I think I would find it hard to decide wether to do or not, so its helpful to see how well he's doing so far!

Thats brill i was thinking of doing one. I have taken pics from day one and pics of her belly to show how it looks. I tryed so hard to google it as was worryed how swollen it got. like she had swollowed a ironing board..i only even found one woman in usa whos horse had it done and to read and see pics every step of the way made me feel better. Hope chicos well today and your feeling better in your self. xx

that was my thinking behind doing it. If people going through the same thing could read and see how Chico got through it then I hope it would be of some support to them

Its a lovely blog - you must have gone through so many emmotions! You seem to have coped remarkably well!!

Fingers firmly crossed that he continues to improve!

That had me in tears - I've been following his progress and think this is a great idea. All good wishes for a full and speedy recovery for Chico (who I have a definite soft spot for - he reminds me so much of my boy).

I have followed your posts but not commented before, very glad to hear Chico
is doing well i know its a very scary & worrying time when they have to go through
surgery. Is he at Pool House by any chance?

Yes he is at Pool House - they have been excellent and I cant praise them enough

Thought i recognised the stable, i know them well. They are my vets & we also transport a lot of horses in & out of there for clients, quite agree they will take
very good care of him.

What a brilliant idea :)
So glad Chico is still improving!

I've kept photos of my girl from summer 2010 from her first attack of lami (in a long while!) right through to her Cushings diagnosis in which time the vets told us to let her go. Glad we didn't as the photos show her getting better and better, up until now where it's all we can do to stay in the saddle!! ;) bit shocking to look back and see how poorly she was though.

Looking forwards to reading your blog as he recovers.

Reason why i never got round to doing it was i then was taken to have op on my back for sciatica. That set me back just as she was ment to be coming back into work. The best part is i got infection so set me back more. Yet i had to clean her belly twice a day till it healed. yet she lives in stable with shavings and done brill...lol now i still on mend and will get round to doing one on both of us...lol Good luck xx
