....he was an absolute dope!

Chico had colic surgery in April and yesterday was the 5 month mark that meant I could get back on board.

I tacked him up, walked him into the school, jumped on and it was as if he had never been off at all.

He immediately softened into the contact (actually better than before) and walked calmly and sensibly.

Several people had been shocked when i said i wasnt going to lunge him first, just get straight on, but I just knew he would be fine.

No real point to this, just happy to be back in the saddle.

(just to add a note to everyone who said they would never put a horse through colic surgery as they have no future afterwards, I hope you saw the horse competing in the Olympics who had had colic surgery! Just goes to show...)

Thank you!
My Mare has just gone in today - for Large Colon twist - Surgery ok - I knowwwww we have a long hard road ahead, but I needed some cheering up! We are going to miss the whole Hunting season now!!!

it seems like it will last forever but i can assure you it passes quicker than you think.

I went out hacking on Chico yesterday and have ridden him for 10 minutes most days.

There is life after colic surgery (despite what some people seem to think!!)

Sending all my best wishes to you and your horse xx

this was today :)
