Childeric Saddles....

Bit of history, the old way we used to do it and how we were trained was the opposite, if we wanted a 17 " saddle we'd use a 17.5" tree (spring tree) so when we webbed the tree up and it was under tension it lost 1/2" now with plastic trees and plastic/foam seats this is largely a forgotten and disused method, Oz

Is this like vanity sizing for riders' behinds? :)

Just being flippant of course!! I can see how it would cause significant confusion, I suppose if they are consistent in their approach, they might not feel the need to change... even if it would make life easier for all involved.

What it says is, whatever the make of saddle you are buying, don't buy unless you have sat in the actual shape and size of seat you are going to buy. I'm actually amazed that people have been pursuaded to pay out for Childeric price saddles with having done that.

Exactly. It really doesn't matter what "size" it says it is, it's how it actually fits you and the horse that matters.

I know that if I buy a pair of jeans from M&S I get a size smaller than if I buy them from Dunnes :)
